The Sunfair Parade is the longest running Yakima parade.  Families come from all around the valley to enjoy the kick off to the Central Washington State Fair.   This year the parade will be held September 20th, 2014 at 10am.  The parade begins on 16th Ave. and will travel down Yakima Ave.  ending at Naches Ave.

To represent the Yakima Valley, the Sunfair Parade Association continues to promote the area with “Ami Kay,”  a Volkswagen Beetle that tows an apple crate holding a 7 foot apple balloon and is complete with vendor signs attached to represent the vintage apple  signs.  The name “Ami Kay” (Yakima spelled backwards) originated from an online contest in 2013 where local participants could name the bug.  Ami Kay was the winner chosen out of 24 entries. The winner, Tammy Gunnoe, was awarded front seat in the bug during the 2013 Sunfair Parade.
